Casablanca –The city made a remarkable jump in the rankings of destinations for travelers coming from Canada and the United States, after moving up 99 places to move from 138th to 39th, according to the FlightHub Unveiled 2026 report, recording the largest movement in the rankings during the study period.

The report is based on data on search, reservation, and air ticket prices during the period from October 2025 to August 2026, compared to the same period of the previous year, where Casablanca recorded a growth of 84 percent in the list of fastest growing destinations, while the increase in another classification of destinations that achieved a strong start during the year amounted to 249.7 percent.

The report links this rise primarily to the expansion of direct air connectivity with the Canadian market, and not only to a natural increase in demand for the city. The launch of the Montreal-Casablanca (YUL-CMN) and Toronto-Casablanca (YYZ-CMN) lines was a major factor in enhancing the city’s presence in reservations data.

According to the report, there was no similar air service on these two routes during the previous reference period, which makes the direct annual comparison of growth rates less significant. However, the impact of increasing air connectivity was clearly evident in the volume of reservations, and pushed Casablanca to record the largest jump in classification.

The Canadian market is particularly prominent in travel to Casablanca, as the average flight price reached 997 Canadian dollars, while the average length of stay reached 15 nights. In the US market, the average flight price was US$938, with an average stay of 13 nights.

The province of Quebec is of particular importance in this path, as the report’s data showed that travelers from it book flights to Casablanca at a rate of approximately 30 times more than the rest of Canada throughout the year, and the percentage increases to about 57 times during construction holidays known as “Construction Holidays.”

This trend is not limited to Casablanca, as the report records similar patterns for Marrakesh, Algiers and Tunisia, reflecting a strong demand among travelers from Quebec for Francophone and North African destinations.

Travelers from Quebec also have a longer travel time compared to other Canadians, with an average of 11 nights compared to 7 nights, while the share of domestic travel in the province declined by 57.6 percent compared to the rest of Canada.

These results come in the context of a broader shift in the North American travel market towards international destinations, after the share of domestic reservations declined by 4.8 points in Canada and 6.4 points in the United States, in conjunction with travelers’ tendency to make their reservations earlier.

The report indicates that Casablanca’s benefit from this transformation was mainly linked to the increase in capacity and the expansion of direct air connectivity, especially with the Canadian market, which enhanced the city’s presence in the reservations of passengers arriving from North America.

Thus, Casablanca’s jump does not merely reflect a limited improvement in the ranking of one of the destinations, but rather represents the largest movement recorded in the rankings during the study period, in light of the expansion of the air network and the rise in the city’s presence among the choices of travelers from Canada and the United States.
