Washington –The initial agreement announced by US President Donald Trump with Iran to stop hostilities and open a new negotiating path raised a wave of questions and criticism within the US Congress, due to the absence of the official text of the agreement and the failure to reveal its details so far.
The announcement, which was presented by the US administration as a step towards reducing tension in the Middle East, became the focus of a political and legal debate in Washington, after a number of members of Congress, from both the Republican and Democratic parties, confirmed that they had not been informed of the content of the agreement or its basic provisions.
American media reports reported that a number of lawmakers called on the administration to reveal the official document, considering that evaluating or supporting the agreement remains difficult in light of the absence of details related to implementation mechanisms and mutual commitments between the two sides.
