Rabat –His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in his Throne Address to the nation on the occasion of the twenty-seventh anniversary of his accession to the throne, affirmed that the Kingdom has madeStrengthening national sovereignty and strategic sufficiency is a major focus of industrial developmentIn light of the international transformations that are witnessing the return of protectionist policies and the increasing challenges associated with securing supply and production chains.
His Majesty the King explained that this trend falls within a strategic vision aimed at strengthening the national economy’s ability to confront international changes and strengthening the Kingdom’s independence in vital sectors, noting that the food and pharmaceutical industries represent a clear model of this option, after they have now covered approximately80 percent of national needs.
His Majesty indicated that this achievement reflects the progress achieved by the Kingdom in building a national production base capable of meeting a large portion of the internal market’s needs, thus enhancing industrial and food security and reducing external dependency.
In the same context, he highlightedKing Mohammed VIMorocco continues to work to establishIndustrial and technological baseInThe fields of defense industries and cybersecurityStressing that this trend will gradually contribute to strengthening the Kingdom’s defense sovereignty, creating new opportunities for development and investment, in addition to consolidating Morocco’s position as a regional power in industries of a strategic nature.
This trend, according to the royal speech, reflects the Kingdom’s will to keep pace with the accelerating global transformations, by investing in high-value-added industries and strengthening national capabilities in areas related to industrial and technological security, ensuring a more solid economy and the ability to confront international crises.
His Majesty the King stressed that making national sovereignty and strategic sufficiency at the core of industrial policy represents a long-term strategic option, aiming to build a more independent and sustainable development model capable of continuing to achieve growth and enhancing the competitiveness of the Moroccan economy in various productive sectors.
