Tripoli –The National Oil Corporation in Libya launched a new project to develop national competencies in the natural gas sector, after deciding to form a higher committee to supervise the establishment of a department specialized in natural gas technologies at the Oil Institute for Qualification and Training in the city of Ajdabiya, in a step aimed at supporting future investment plans in this sector.
The Corporation issued Resolution No.829 of 2026Signed by the Chairman of its Board of DirectorsMasoud SuleimanWith the aim of supervising the establishment of the new department within its programs aimed at building national capabilities and raising the efficiency of human resources working in the oil and gas sector.
The committee began its first meeting at the headquarters of the Petroleum Institute in Ajdabiya after completing the process of examining the available capabilities, in preparation for preparing the technical studies necessary to begin implementing the project.
The National Oil Corporation confirmed that the department to be established will specialize in qualifying and training technical personnel in the field of natural gas technologies, thus providing qualified human resources to support investment and expansion projects in the gas industry, in line with the Corporation’s strategy to develop the sector.
She added that the project falls within a series of programs aimed at enhancing qualification and specialized training, and raising the readiness of Libyan competencies to keep pace with plans to develop and invest in natural gas during the next stage.
