The launch of the strategic land road opens new horizons for economic integration between Libya, Egypt and Chad

Libya is witnessing an exceptional step in the field ofInfrastructureAnd logistics with the launch of the strategic land road project that will connect it to its neighbors Egypt and Chad. This project is considered a new lifeline that enhances commercial activity and revitalizes the Libyan economy, and restores Libya’s historical role as a main gateway linking North Africa and the African Sahel countries

The sector extendsLibyanFrom the road, about 390 kilometers from the Kufra region located in the southeast to the border with Chad, it is currently in the stages of technical studies and preliminary designs. A contract was signed with the Arab Contractors Company to begin the preliminary work, which includes environmental surveys and geotechnical studies, in preparation for the implementation of the project.

This road represents a unique regional cooperation between Libya, Egypt and Chad, and includes the implementation ofProjectIn three main sectors: an Egyptian sector starting from the east of Al-Uwaynat and extending to the borders of Libya, the Libyan sector, and the Chadian sector, which is the longest, with a length of 930 kilometers. Implementation of the Egyptian sector has already begun, relying on specialized Egyptian companies.

This project is expected to contribute to reducing transportation costs, increasing the flow of goods, and facilitating the movement of citizens between the three countries, which will enhance regional economic integration and support development, especially in border areas that have long suffered from marginality.

However, the project facesChallengesInternal, represented by the security situation in some of the areas that the road crosses, in addition to the need for huge funding for its implementation. Despite this, the Libyan, Egyptian and Chadian authorities affirm their full commitment to placing this project at the top of their priorities and working to overcome all obstacles to ensure its success.

In its entirety, this giant land road, with a total length of about 1,720 kilometers, will form a new logistical axis linking North Africa with its center, enhancing trade movement and consolidating Libya’s position as a centerRegionalVital in the heart of the African continent, paving the way for a new phase of economic development and regional cooperation.
