Tripoli – The National Unity Government in Libya announced, on Monday, the resumption of normal movement in the capital, Tripoli, following the signing of a truce agreement between the warring parties, amid international and American welcome for the step aimed at containing the recent security tensions.
The interim government, headed by Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, confirmed the return of work in the port of Tripoli and the resumption of the entry of ships loaded with gasoline and gas, in coordination with the Conflict Resolution Committee, after verifying the safety of the port and its ability to receive ships and distribute fuel to warehouses and gas stations in the city.
In the same context, the Ministry of Interior announced the availability of sufficient quantities of fuel, noting that distribution operations are taking place normally. She called on citizens not to rush to gas stations, stressing that supplies will continue without interruption.
The end of the second semester exams for basic and secondary education students also began in a number of major Tripoli municipalities, including Souq Al-Jumaa, Ain Zara, and Abu Salim, in a clear indication that public life is gradually returning to normal in the capital.
For his part, the designated Minister of Interior, Imad Trabelsi, stressed, during an expanded meeting with ambassadors of European Union countries, Libya’s categorical rejection of any projects aimed at settling irregular migrants, stressing that Libya “will not be a country of stability for migration,” and calling for international support for organized deportations in a way that respects Libyan sovereignty and serves regional security.
Regarding the administration of the truce, the Ministry of Defense clarified that the implementation of the ceasefire agreement is taking place under its direct supervision, in coordination with the regular military authorities, noting that protecting civilians and securing vital sites is a top priority during this stage.
The Ministry called on local media to be accurate and responsible in reporting the news, and to avoid spreading rumors that might cause anxiety among the population, stressing that the security forces continue to deploy in accordance with strict instructions to ensure the stability of the situation.
