A member of the Libyan House of Representatives, Jaballah Al-Shaibani, stressed that Libya must remain a single national state, and that dealings within it must be in accordance with the principle of citizenship, away from classifications based on the majority and minority.
In a post on his Facebook page, Al-Shaibani stressed that all citizens in Libya are equal in rights and duties, calling for strengthening decentralization by dividing the country into governorates and municipalities with broad powers. He stressed that this step aims to fragment the central authority, which he described as “abhorrent,” which strengthens the unity of the nation and thwarts any attempts to threaten its stability.
Al-Shaibani also warned of the danger of monopolizing power by certain parties, stressing that leaving “the key to the state in specific hands” may lead to an imbalance in governance. He pointed out the need to adopt fair policies that ensure a balanced distribution of powers between the various Libyan regions, which contributes to achieving justice and equality among all citizens.
