This visit comes in the context of the continuing dynamism witnessed by Moroccan-Mauritanian relations in recent years, with the support of the common will of His MajestyHis Majesty King Mohammed VI and Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Al-GhazouaniTo consolidate a strategic partnership that responds to the security and economic challenges facing the region.
It is expected that the discussions between officials will focus on ways to enhance security coordination and develop cooperation in the areas of border management and combating irregular migration, in addition to examining mechanisms to support trade exchanges through the Guerguerat crossing, which constitutes a strategic corridor for trade exchange between Morocco and Mauritania and a gateway to West African markets.
This visit is of particular importance given the Mauritanian Minister of the Interior’s supervision of sovereign files, including security, territorial administration, and border management, which gives these talks a strategic dimension that reflects the strength of relations between Rabat and Nouakchott.
