This rapprochement is evident in light of the deteriorating security situation in a number of neighboring countries, especially Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, which strengthens Mauritania’s position as a country that enjoys relative stability, and gives it an advanced role within international approaches to confronting cross-border threats.
This trend also reflects Mauritania’s keenness to diversify its foreign partnerships while maintaining the balance of its international relations, by engaging in technical and security cooperation without being linked to political axes, in an international context characterized by changing balances of power.
These movements indicate the pursuit ofNouakchottTo enhance its security capabilities and support its internal stability, in light of increasing challenges on its borders, which makes this visit a prominent milestone in the path of its strategic partnerships.
