Tripoli – The Libyan 444th Fighting Brigade announced, on Friday, the destruction of a huge quantity of narcotic pills, estimated at more than five million pills, as part of intensive efforts to combat drug smuggling and promotion.
The agency explained, on its official Facebook page, that the seized quantity was seized during precise and organized operations aimed at combating smuggling and organized crime, and it was destroyed under the supervision of the Public Prosecution.
The Major General stressed that this step comes in the context of what he described as the “open war” that the Libyan authorities are waging against all forms of organized crime, most notably the drug trade, which poses a direct threat to the security of society and the future of its youth.
The security authorities stressed the continuation of raids and inspection campaigns in various regions, with the aim of tracking down and dismantling criminal networks, as part of a broader national plan to enhance security stability and reduce the drug scourge in the country.
