Local sources reported regarding the crash of a plane near Fez Sais Airport on Monday morning, that the plane belonged to the Royal Armed Forces and was carrying two officers, one with the rank of major and the other with the rank of captain. The plane deviated from its course a few moments after taking off from the airport, resulting in the death of the two soldiers who were on board, which created an unprecedented security and military alert.
It is noteworthy that the plane was on a routine training mission, before it lost its balance and fell on the runway.
Immediately upon receiving this news, the local authorities went to the scene to inspect the scene of the accident and cordoned off the perimeter of the airport. For its part, a special technical committee began investigating the causes of the accident.
It is noteworthy that this incident is the second of its kind during the year 2025 at Fez Sais Airport after a plane crashed last April in the same place without causing human casualties.
As a result of this incident, some training flights were temporarily suspended while a comprehensive assessment of everything technical was completed and investigations continued to determine all the circumstances.
This raises many questions about the safety conditions related to military aviation, especially with the high pace of air training as part of the upcoming military, security and defense preparations, while the bodies of the two victims were transferred to the military hospital to conduct the autopsy and hand over the bodies to their families amid deep sadness among the Royal Armed Forces family.
