Tehran –Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian, confirmed that his country did not retreat from any of its rights, interests, or principles during the negotiations related to the memorandum of understanding, stressing that Iran did not make any concessions, and that most of the terms of the agreement came in a way that served its interests and did not achieve unilateral gains for the United States.
Pezeshkian explained that the fourteen provisions of the memorandum of understanding preserved Iranian constants, stressing that his country is committed to defending its national interests while adopting a realistic approach in dealing with the repercussions of the current stage.
The Iranian President pointed out that the country needs, today more than ever, national unity and solidarity, and decision-making based on collective wisdom and consensus among various state institutions, considering that the absence of consensus may reflect negatively on the performance of the regime’s institutions.
He added that the war was no longer limited to military confrontation or launching missiles, but rather included economic, media, and psychological dimensions, stressing that what he described as the “enemy” realized his inability to force the Iranian people to surrender through military means, so he resorted to economic pressures, which he said might affect the military achievements and social capital that the country had accumulated.
Pezeshkian also stressed that Iran is going through an exceptional phase, which he described as a “state of war,” which requires managing state affairs in ways that suit the nature of the current challenges, away from traditional mechanisms, calling for confronting external threats in parallel with addressing the necessary internal files despite the difficulty of this task.
The Iranian President’s statements come at a time when diplomatic moves are continuing to contain regional tension, amid official talk about the continued efforts of mediators to avoid further escalation between Tehran and Washington.
