“Generation Z 212” file: 13 young men released from prison after the sentences and the continued follow-up of others

Casablanca –The Criminal Chamber of First Instance of the Casablanca Court of Appeal issued judicial rulings against 18 people who were prosecuted in connection with incidents related to the “Generation 212” movement protests, after they were prosecuted on charges related to obstructing traffic on the urban highway in the economic capital.

According to the file data, the court issued sentences that ranged from one year of suspended imprisonment to one year of imprisonment, including ten effective months, while other sentences of effective imprisonment for a period of eight months were issued against a number of observers.

The Defense Authority reported, according to media reports, that 13 of the convicts left the prison institution after completing their sentences, while other judicial procedures are still ongoing in files related to the same case.

The Public Prosecution had previously announced the arrest of those involved in the matter against the backdrop of what it considered a case of flagrante delicto obstructing traffic on the urban highway in the city of Casablanca, which, according to official data, caused traffic to completely stop at the level of the section in question.

In the same context, it is expected that six minors will appear before the judiciary in the coming days within the framework of the same file, according to what was reported by the defense authority.

These developments come after months of protests in several cities, which raised demands related to reforming the health and education sectors and fighting corruption, before their pace gradually declined during the subsequent period.
