Freeing 34 irregular migrants south of Benghazi and raiding an illegal detention warehouse

The Libyan Criminal Investigation Service announced the release of 34 illegal immigrants who were detained inside a warehouse in the city of Suluk, south of Benghazi, in a raid carried out by investigation teams in coordination with the competent authorities.

The agency explained, in a statement carried by the Libyan News Agency, that the operation came after accurate information was received by the Investigation Department about the existence of a place used to detain immigrants illegally. The statement stated that the investigation teams immediately moved to the site, where they began collecting information and verifying the authenticity of the report.

The operation resulted in the liberation of 12 immigrants of Arab nationalities and 22 other immigrants from sub-Saharan African countries, who were detained inside the warehouse in inhumane conditions. They were transferred to a safe place, while the necessary legal measures were taken to refer the case to the relevant authorities.

The agency confirmed that investigations are still ongoing to identify the parties involved in the illegal detention process, stressing its continuation in combating human trafficking networks and ensuring the protection of migrants from all forms of exploitation and abuse.
