Floods in the Grand Palace: Urgent royal instructions mobilize the armed forces to rescue those affected and secure the population

The Grand Palace –Following the severe weather disturbances taking place in a number of regions of the Kingdom, most notably the city of the Grand Palace, His Majesty the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, gave his high instructions to intervene immediately to confront the repercussions of the floods and protect the affected population.

The General Command of the Royal Armed Forces stated, in a statement, that, in tight coordination with the Ministry of Interior and local authorities, field intervention units were deployed, supported by advanced human and logistical means, which included equipment, supplies, and mechanisms designated for transporting and sheltering those affected, and contributing to rescue operations and field support.

In the same context, the National Vigilance Committee for Managing and Tracking Flood Events, during a meeting held today, Friday, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Interior, highly appreciated these royal instructions, considering them a practical embodiment of the special care that His Majesty the King attaches to protecting the lives of citizens, and ensuring their safety and security in the face of exceptional climate fluctuations.

This meeting, which was attended by a number of ministers and officials from government sectors and relevant institutions, was an opportunity to study the current situation in the city of Ksar El-Kebir, track its field developments, and assess the extent of the recorded damage, in addition to coordinating various interventions and taking urgent measures to protect the population and ensure the safety of citizens and their property.

This move comes in light of the exceptional floods that the city experienced, as a result of heavy rainfall and high water levels in the valleys, especially Wadi Lokos and Wadi Sebu and the sewers associated with them, in addition to the constraints associated with managing the injections of the dams, which have reached high levels of filling due to important water imports.

During the meeting, the measures taken to contain the rise in water levels, limit the expansion of the areas affected by inundation, and reduce the potential repercussions on the population and infrastructure were reviewed during the meeting, within the framework of continuous coordination between the various stakeholders.

The National Vigilance Committee stressed the continuation of careful monitoring and monitoring of the development of the situation, and maintaining a state of maximum mobilization, while ensuring readiness for immediate intervention whenever necessary, until the weather conditions improve and these exceptional circumstances are overcome.

At the conclusion of the meeting, emphasis was placed on the comprehensive mobilization of all public departments and authorities to accompany those affected and provide them with the necessary support, while praising the spirit of responsibility and positive engagement of various actors, and calling for male and female citizens, especially those residing in the areas concerned, to be extremely vigilant and adhere to the directives of the competent authorities, to avoid any potential risks and to preserve lives and property.
