El Alamein –Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Head of the Libyan National Unity Government, Abdel Hamid Al-Dabaiba, affirmed today, Thursday, the two countries’ keenness to strengthen bilateral partnership and expand areas of cooperation, with an emphasis on supporting Libya’s security and stability and preserving its unity and territorial integrity.

This came during a meeting that brought together the two sides in the city of El Alamein, in the presence of Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati, and General Intelligence Chief Hassan Rashad, along with a number of Libyan officials, including Ibrahim Al-Dabaiba, National Security Advisor, and Walid Al-Lafi, Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs.
According to the official spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, President Sisi welcomed the visit of the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, stressing the depth of the historical and fraternal relations between Egypt and Libya, and the necessity of intensifying joint work to enhance cooperation in a way that serves the interests of the two peoples.
Sisi stressed Cairo’s continued support for efforts to achieve peace and stability in Libya, while preserving the country’s unity and territorial integrity, stressing that Egypt attaches special importance to the stability of its western neighbor.
The meeting discussed ways to develop economic cooperation, especially in the sectors of electricity, energy, infrastructure and reconstruction, in addition to enhancing trade exchange and investments between the two countries.
For his part, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s positions in support of Libya, stressing the importance of improving bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in various priority areas, in a way that contributes to achieving development and prosperity for the two peoples.
The two sides also discussed developments in the regional and international situation, and stressed the importance of enhancing joint coordination and supporting peaceful solutions to disputes, while agreeing to intensify consultation between the two countries to confront common challenges.
