Bourita leads a new diplomatic move in Africa.. A strategic partnership between Morocco and Niger is heading to an advanced stage

Niamey – Presided over by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad,Nasser BouritaOn Wednesday in the Nigerien capital, Niamey, the work of the fifth session of the Joint Committee for Cooperation between Morocco and Niger took place, on instructions from King Mohammed VI, according to official data.

This session falls within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, as a common will was emphasized to raise it to the level of a multi-dimensional strategic partnership, including various economic and development fields.

During the opening session, Bourita highlighted that this meeting constitutes an important milestone for reaffirming the strength of historical relations between Morocco and Niger, and enhancing prospects for cooperation in the context of current regional challenges.

He also stressed that South-South cooperation constitutes a consistent strategic choice in the Kingdom’s foreign policy, highlighting in this context the royal initiatives aimed at supporting African integration, especially those related to enhancing the access of the Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean.

On the security side, the Moroccan official reaffirmed the Kingdom’s solidarity with Niger in confronting terrorist threats, praising its efforts in this field, while highlighting the importance of the religious dimension inCombating extremism, through the formation of imams and guides.

This session witnessed the signing of a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding covering vital sectors, including renewable energies, industry, health, transportation, and infrastructure, in addition to the fields of youth and sports.

The growing role of the Moroccan private sector in supporting investments in Niger was also emphasized, especially in the fields of banking, communications and air transport, as well as enhancing academic and cultural cooperation through training programs and scholarships.

This session reflects a trend towards opening a new phase in bilateral relations, based on an integrated partnership based on solidarity and joint cooperation, in a way that responds to the aspirations of the two countries and keeps pace with regional transformations.
