تحرك فرنسي نحو الجزائر لكسر الجمود الدبلوماسي وسط تباينات قائمة

After months of tension with Paris, Algeria resumes receiving its citizens deported from France

Paris –In recent weeks, France has resumed deportations of a number of Algerian immigrants who were ordered to leave French territory, after the return of consular cooperation with Algeria following months of tension between the two countries.

According to data circulated by French media, the Algerian authorities have once again begun issuing consular transit permits, which are documents that allow confirming the identity of deportees and organizing their return to their country of origin, after this file has been in a state of stagnation since 2025.

Deportations to Algeria were greatly affected during the recent period due to the diplomatic crisis that affected relations between Paris and Algeria, which was reflected in the immigration files and security and judicial cooperation.

The same data indicate that coordination between the two sides witnessed a new movement after the visit made by French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez to Algeria last February, as part of efforts to restore channels of communication between the two countries.

In this context, the French authorities recently deported a number of Algerian citizens whom Paris considers concerned with deportation procedures, especially in files related to public security or persons convicted in criminal cases.

Despite these developments, relations between France and Algeria are still marked by several points of contention related to political, historical and judicial issues, amid talk of a cautious calm without reaching a complete breakthrough in bilateral relations.

This development comes in the context of transformations that have occurred in relations between the two countries since 2024, after escalating diplomatic tensions over a number of regional and political issues.
