Rabat –The Directorial Office of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, headed by Fawzi Lakjaa, renewed its confidence in national coach Mohamed Wehbe to continue leading the Moroccan national team, during a meeting devoted to evaluating the “Atlas Lions” participation in the 2026 World Cup, and discussing preparations for organizing the 2030 World Cup.
The Director’s Office considered that the national team’s reaching the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup represents a positive outcome that confirms the continued development of Moroccan football, after the historic achievement achieved in the 2022 World Cup, stressing that the next stage aims to build on these gains to achieve better results in the upcoming competitions.
The president of the university, Fawzi Lakjaa, confirmed that all the national team players gave their best and showed a high patriotic spirit during the tournament, stressing the need to protect the team from the rumors and inaccurate information that followed the confrontation with France in the quarter-finals, because of the impact it may have on the stability of the group.
The meeting also discussed the preparations for organizing the 2030 World Cup finals, which Morocco is hosting in partnership with Spain and Portugal. Lakjaa stressed that these national workshops require collective mobilization and continuous coordination among the various stakeholders, in line with the royal vision aimed at developing national sports and enhancing Morocco’s position on the international scene.
The University President explained that the “Morocco 2030” Foundation, in partnership with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, will supervise the various stages of preparation for the World Cup, while adopting joint working mechanisms to ensure that the global event is organized according to the highest standards.
The managerial office concluded its work by announcing the renewal of confidence in Mohamed Wehbe at the head of the technical management of the national team, while postponing the discussion of the remaining points on the agenda to a later meeting.
