Rabat –The delegation of the Moroccan football team received a large crowd, at dawn on Sunday, upon its arrival at Rabat-Salé Airport from the American city of Boston, after concluding its participation in the 2026 World Cup finals, which were hosted by the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.
According to what was announced by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, the “Atlas Lions” delegation left Boston after the end of its journey in the tournament, arriving in Rabat, where it was received by a large number of Moroccan fans.
Arrival scenes showed hundreds of fans arriving at Rabat-Salé Airport, carrying national flags and chanting encouraging slogans, expressing their support and pride in what the team presented during the World Cup competitions, while the players exchanged greetings with the fans and waved to them in appreciation for their support.
The Moroccan national team ended its participation in the 2026 World Cup by reaching the quarter-finals, after topping the scene as the best Arab and African team in the edition that witnessed the participation of 48 teams for the first time.
During its journey in the tournament, the “Atlas Lions” tied with Brazil (1-1), and achieved victory over Scotland (1-0) and Haiti (4-2) in the group stage, before beating the Netherlands on penalties in the round of 32, then defeating Canada 3-0 in the round of 16, before leaving the competition by losing to France with two unanswered goals in the quarter-finals.
The Moroccan national team continues to consolidate its presence among the top international teams, after the historic achievement in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and then reaching the quarter-finals of the 2026 edition, in a new confirmation of the development of national football.
