Security and technical warnings about a wave of fraudulent text messages and calls impersonating banking institutions and delivery companies to steal bank data and hack WhatsApp accounts.
صحافة بلادي — Cybersecurity experts and banking institutions in Morocco have renewed their warnings to citizens against falling into the trap of short text messages (SMS) and suspicious links on the WhatsApp application that claim to stop the bank account, win financial prizes, or request payment of postal parcel fees.
Banks never ask for the password or confirmation code over the phone The specialists confirmed that any banking or public institution never asks its customers to provide the bank card PIN or the 6-digit verification code (OTP) via phone or external links.
Activate two-step verification to protect social media accounts
Experts advised all smartphone users to activate the “Two-Step Verification” feature on the WhatsApp application and not to share any code they received with any party.
ونصح الخبراء كافة مستعملي الهواتف الذكية بتفعيل خاصية «التحقق بخطوتين» (Two-Step Verification) على تطبيق واتساب وعدم مشاركة أي رمز توصلوا به مع أي جهة كانت.
