Morocco faces Algeria in a decisive Maghreb summit at Cannes Women 2026

Rabat –On Thursday, the Moroccan women’s national football team will face its Algerian counterpart on the grounds of Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, in the second round of the first group competitions for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations “Morocco 2026”, in an anticipated match that may decide the features of the group’s lead and bring one of the two teams closer to reaching the quarter-finals.

The Moroccan national team enters the confrontation in high spirits after its great victory in the opening round over the Kenya national team with four goals to none, scored in turns by Ibtissam Al-Jaradi (two goals), Sakina Ouzraoui, and Meriem Atiq, so that the “Atlas Lionesses” lead the group on goal difference.

The national team aspires to invest the ground staff and the public in order to continue its positive results and enhance its chances of qualifying for the next round, in addition to continuing the competition for one of the qualifying tickets to the 2027 Women’s World Cup finals in Brazil.

The match is of special importance as it is an awaited Maghreb summit, as the two teams seek to achieve the second victory in a row and move one step closer to booking a ticket to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
