Morocco celebrates the 23rd anniversary of the birth of Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, amid continued praise for his growing official presence.

Rabat –Today, Friday, the Moroccan people and the royal family celebrate the twenty-third anniversary of the birth of His Royal Highness Moulay El Hassan, in a national occasion that renews manifestations of cohesion between the throne and the people, and confirms the symbolic status of the royal institution in Moroccan national life.

The anniversary of the Crown Prince’s birth dates back to May 8, 2003, when the Ministry of Royal Palaces, Honors and Decorations announced the birth of a baby boy at the Royal Palace in Rabat. King Mohammed VI named him Moulay El Hassan, in memory of His Majesty the late King Hassan II.

This occasion comes in the context of a year marked by a prominent official presence of the Crown Prince in a number of national, military, cultural and sporting activities, the most prominent of which was his appointment, last week, by King Mohammed VI, as coordinator of the offices and services of the General Command of the Royal Armed Forces, in a step that reflects the increase in his institutional roles within state structures.

During the past months, the Crown Prince also chaired several major official activities, including the opening of the 31st session of the International Publishing and Book Fair in Rabat, the inauguration of the Mohammed VI Tower, in addition to his chairing the opening ceremony of the African Cup of Nations “Morocco 2025” at the Prince Moulay Abdullah Stadium in Rabat.

Last year also witnessed the Crown Prince’s participation in a number of events related to the military establishment, including the graduation ceremonies of senior military regiments in Kenitra, and the reception of officers of the Royal Armed Forces on the occasion of Throne Day, in addition to his presence in religious and national activities alongside King Mohammed VI.

Observers believe that the succession of these official activities reflects a gradual path to prepare the Crown Prince to assume future responsibilities, within the framework of the continuity of the royal institution and the consolidation of the traditions of the modern Moroccan state linked to the glorious Alawite throne.

The 23rd anniversary of the birth of the Crown Prince represents an occasion in which Moroccans conjure the symbolism of stability and institutional continuity, in light of the regional and international transformations that the region is experiencing.
