TripoliThe Libyan Football Association announced that it has submitted an official request to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to nominate itself to host the Africa Cup of Nations finals in one of the 2028, 2032 or 2036 editions, in a step that reflects Libya’s ambition to host the largest football tournament on the continent.
According to Libyan media, the Libyan Federation sent an official letter to CAF in which it expressed its desire to enter the race to host the tournament, marking the start of the first stage of the official nomination procedures.

He explained that the file will focus on the readiness of stadiums, training facilities, and sports infrastructure, in addition to accommodation and transportation services, and logistical and organizational aspects, in line with CAF’s requirements for hosting the tournament.
This move comes as part of Libya’s efforts to enhance its sporting presence on the African scene, by developing sports facilities and improving infrastructure, allowing it to host continental and international championships in the future.
In recent years, the Confederation of African Football has adopted strict criteria in selecting host countries, including the quality of stadiums, the availability of training facilities, the efficiency of infrastructure and organizational services, which are aspects that the Libyan Federation will work to highlight in the nomination file.
