The Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation expressed its reservations about holding any meetings or consultations dealing with the Libyan issue without the official participation of the Libyan state, against the backdrop of the tripartite consultative meeting expected to be organized in Tunisia, with the participation of Egypt andAlgeriaIn the presence of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Libya.
In a statement issued yesterday, Sunday, the Ministry affirmed its appreciation for the fraternal and historical relations that unite Libya with neighboring countries, stressing that any discussions, arrangements or consultations related to the situation in Libya should take place with the direct participation of the Libyan state through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as it is the official body authorized to follow up on files related to the country’s political future, security and stability.
The Ministry explained that Libya welcomes any sincere regional or international effort aimed at supporting the path of a political solution, provided that it respects the sovereignty of the Libyan state and its independent national decision, adheres to the principle of partnership, and does not bypass the competent national institutions in relevant issues.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation also renewed Libya’s commitment to positive and constructive cooperation with neighboring countries and with the United Nations mission, in a way that contributes to enhancing security and stability at the national and regional levels, and achieves the aspirations of the Libyan people for peace and stability.
