On Saturday, the social and governmental pole in Rabat experienced one of the most exciting and politically ironic moments of handing over power. In the Ministry of Employment and Social Dialogue, Younis Al-Sakuri handed over the duties to the federal leader and former head of the socialist teamAbdul Rahim ShahidIn the Ministry of Family, Social Development and Equality, Naima bin Yahya handed over the torch to the Bamieh leadershipNajwa CocosAnd the Minister Delegate in charge of Social IntegrationRashid HamouniFormer head of the Progress and Socialism Team in the House of Representatives.
“Who would have bombed the government from within Parliament or within it.” Behind the scenes of the opposition’s transformation into ministers!
What most sparked comments from those watching behind the scenes of the handover of power is that both Abdel Rahim Chahid (Socialist Union) and Rachid Hamouni (Progress and Socialism) were, until a few weeks ago, leading the fiercest parliamentary battles against the previous government regarding the issues of unemployment, the high cost of living, and the exclusion of vulnerable families from the “indicator” threshold for direct social support.
Today, the new government architecture has brought them face to face with the same files whose management they have long criticized, at a time when the Ministerial Council announced the launch of«National Integrated Program for Youth 2027-2031»And“Raising the value of direct social support”.
“Moroccans on social networking sites said it frankly to Shahid, Hamouni and Kokos: Yesterday you were foolish, as Parliament was on the index and unemployment, today the chair and the pen are in your hands… We wanted to see the index decline, support rise, and the youth meet the service!”
Files that cannot be postponed on the table of the social trio
- Abdul Rahim Shahid and the trade unions:Organizing rounds of social dialogue and issuing the strike law and amendments to the labor code in a consensus that protects enterprises and safeguards the rights of workers, while implementing the youth employment programme.
- Najwa Kokos and the family and equality file:Keeping pace with legislative and institutional projects related to the Moroccan family and the economic empowerment of women.
- Rachid Hamouni and social integration:The son of the Pullman region faces the challenge of reviewing the targeting of vulnerable groups and people with disabilities and reducing spatial disparities in the rural and mountainous world.
