Washington –The US military announced, on Monday, the implementation of a new round of air strikes against targets inside Iran, hours after a broad military operation that it said targeted dozens of Iranian military sites, in a new escalation of tension between Washington and Tehran that once again highlights the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to announced data, the American strikes came after attacks carried out by Iran over the weekend targeting American military bases in the region, a development that reflects the continued exchange of military operations between the two sides.
This escalation restores interest in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important strategic sea lanes in the world, through which a large proportion of global oil and gas exports pass, making any security tension in its vicinity subject to wide international follow-up due to its potential repercussions on energy markets and maritime traffic.
Observers believe that the continuation of the confrontation between the United States and Iran may increase concerns about the security of navigation in the Gulf, especially if the escalation extends to maritime areas or targets infrastructure related to energy supplies.
