Algeria –An official tally of civil protection services in Algeria revealed that 194 traffic accidents were recorded in just 24 hours, leaving 6 dead and 246 injured, in numbers that bring to the forefront the issue of road safety and infrastructure in the country.
During the same period, the relevant departments recorded 3,615 field interventions, an intervention rate every 23 seconds, which reflects the amount of pressure imposed by daily accidents and emergencies.
Observers consider that the repetition of this outcome raises questions about the reality of road safety, especially in light of continuing demands to enhance road signaling, improve road maintenance, and strengthen prevention and lighting conditions in a number of areas.
Traffic accidents remain one of the most prominent challenges facing public safety in Algeria, given the human casualties recorded almost daily on the roads.
