Algeria – My Press
A report issued by a platform specialized in defense affairs reported that Algerian military movements were recorded near the border with Morocco, after monitoring the flight of two Mi-28NE attack helicopters, in a move that revived the debate about the level of existing tension in the region.
According to the data contained in the report, this move is among the most prominent field developments recorded during the recent period, especially in light of the regional context characterized by a state of diplomatic stagnation, especially with regard to the Moroccan Sahara file.
The same source indicated that Algeria is among the countries that rely on this type of combat helicopters, which are characterized by advanced attack capabilities and designed specifically for military missions, without parallel transport functions, which reflects the nature of their operational use.
The report also highlighted that these movements come weeks after other indicators of tension were recorded at the border strip, which extends for about 1,600 kilometers, and which is classified as one of the most sensitive areas in North Africa.
On the other hand, Morocco has continued in recent years to modernize its military capabilities, especially in the airspace, by acquiring advanced equipment that keeps pace with regional and international transformations, within the framework of enhancing defense readiness.
Observers believe that these developments reflect the continued state of anticipation that characterizes the border situation between the two countries, in the absence of clear indications of an imminent diplomatic breakthrough, which keeps the region within the circle of attention and follow-up at the regional and international levels.
