Widespread controversy after a circulated video.. The Pharmacists Syndicate in Morocco intervenes in the line of “assaulting” a pharmacist

Rabat –The Moroccan Confederation of Moroccan Pharmacists Syndicates has entered the controversy sparked by a video circulating on social media, relating to an incident that the professional body said included “assault and unacceptable behaviour” targeting a pharmacist while carrying out her professional duties.

The Confederation expressed, in a statement, a copy of which was received by national media, its solidarity with those concerned, considering that what happened “affects the dignity of the pharmacist and his role within the health system,” and condemned what it described as “tactics of intimidation and dangerous abuses” targeting professionals in the sector.

Muhammad Al-Hababi, President of the Confederation, stressed that any targeting of pharmacists or pharmaceutical institutions is not related to an isolated incident, but rather raises, as he put it, the problem of protecting health professionals while performing their daily tasks.

The professional body called on the competent authorities to intervene and take the necessary measures to determine responsibilities and arrange the legal consequences associated with this incident, while ensuring respect for the laws regulating the profession and protecting health sector workers.

On the other hand, the details of the circulating incident are still not completely clear, as the video continues to circulate on social media platforms, without the issuance of accurate official data regarding the circumstances or background of the incident.

This union interaction comes in the context of increasing debate about the working conditions of health professionals in Morocco, and ways to enhance legal and professional protection within health institutions and pharmacies.
