Tunisia –The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (Stag) revealed that the repeated power outages witnessed in several regions in recent days are due to the record rise in electricity consumption due to the heat wave, in addition to technical factors that affected the stability of the national grid.
The president and general manager of the company, Faisal Tarifa, explained in radio statements that the extensive use of air conditioning devices during peak hours, which extends between one and five in the evening, has raised the demand for electricity to unprecedented levels, calling on citizens to rationalize consumption to contribute to reducing pressure on the system.
