Libya –The passage of the “Samoud 2” land relief convoy across Libyan territory, in the direction of the Rafah crossing, sparked a wide debate within Libyan political and legal circles, amid questions regarding the conditions of crossing and respect for the security and sovereign procedures of the countries concerned.
The convoy includes activists and participants from several Maghreb countries, including Moroccans, as it aims to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. However, its movements inside Libya were accompanied by official positions and warnings related to the security situation and the complexities of border movement.
The Libyan authorities confirmed that entering Egyptian territory through land crossings is subject to specific controls, stressing the need to respect legal procedures and official coordination with the competent authorities. Libyan humanitarian institutions also expressed their willingness to coordinate to deliver aid according to approved channels.
On the other hand, the party organizing the convoy stressed that the initiative is of a humanitarian nature and aims to support the residents of Gaza, expressing its readiness to cooperate with the Libyan and Egyptian authorities to ensure the passage of aid within a legal and organized framework.
Observers believe that the issue has brought back to the forefront the debate related to the balance between humanitarian work and respect for the security sovereignty of states, especially in light of the regional tensions and security sensitivity that characterize the border region between Libya and Egypt.
