Algeria –The European Commission included the Algerian airline “Air Express Algeria” on the European Union’s air safety list, in a decision that prevents it from operating flights within European airspace due to concerns related to respecting internationally approved air safety standards.
This measure is among the most stringent in the European civil aviation sector, as it is taken based on technical assessments and specialized reviews that monitor the extent of airline companies’ compliance with air safety and security requirements.
The European Commission explained that the decision came after audits and reviews that revealed the presence of observations related to the company’s compliance with international safety standards, without revealing additional details regarding the nature of the recorded violations or the procedures required to lift the ban in the future.
On the other hand, the Commission announced the removal of all airlines registered in Kyrgyzstan from the European air safety list, after recording an improvement in the level of compliance with international standards in force in the field of civil aviation.
Air Express Allegria did not issue any official comment regarding the European decision until it was announced.
The European Union Air Safety List is a regulatory mechanism approved since 2006, through which the activity of airlines that do not meet internationally approved safety conditions is prevented or restricted, based on periodic evaluations that include airlines and civil aviation authorities in various countries.
Air Express Allegria, which was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in Hassi Messaoud, is primarily active in transportation services related to the oil and gas sector, in addition to medical evacuation flights, personal transportation, and light air cargo services.
This decision re-highlights the importance of air safety standards in civil transport, and the role played by international monitoring bodies in tracking the extent of airline companies’ compliance with globally approved technical and regulatory controls.
