Tunisia –The Tunisian Organization of Young Doctors revealed that a large percentage of young doctors working in public hospitals have been exposed to violent incidents while carrying out their professional duties, in light of the continuing controversy over working conditions within the public health sector.
The organization reported, during a press conference devoted to presenting the reality of working in government health institutions, that 73 percent of young doctors confirmed that they had been exposed to violence while performing their work.
The results of the survey conducted by the organization also showed that 82 percent of participants were considering leaving Tunisia and emigrating abroad, due to what they described as difficult working conditions and professional pressures within public hospitals.
These data come amid continuing demands to improve the working conditions of medical personnel and provide protection within health institutions, at a time when Tunisia faces increasing challenges linked to the lack of human resources in the health sector.
