🌊 Water security and major urban centers – Rabat and Casablanca
The Ministry of Equipment and Water is racing against time to complete the largest seawater desalination plants, relying on renewable energies to provide drinking water and agricultural irrigation.

The National Program for Providing Potable Water and Irrigation Water is progressing at an accelerated pace, in implementation of the royal directives aimed at achieving sustainable water security for the Kingdom in the face of climate change.

Casablanca Grand Station…the largest of its kind in Africa

Work is progressing rapidly on the seawater desalination plant project in Casablanca, which will provide 300 million cubic meters annually, in addition to the Dakhla, Nador, Safi, Jorf Lasfar and Agadir plants that operate on wind and solar energy.

Connecting water basins and valuing treated wastewater

In parallel with desalination, Morocco continues to expand interconnection projects between water basins and use treated water to water green spaces and sports stadiums.

Available field data and indicators confirm that these rapid developments are being closely monitored by various institutional and professional actors, given their direct connection to the current economic and social challenges, and the continuous coordination they require to ensure the effectiveness of interventions and achieve a tangible impact on the ground.

In the same context, observers and specialists agree that the current stage requires continuing to value the gains achieved and accelerating the pace of implementing programs governed according to standards of good governance, transparency, and linking responsibility to accountability, in a way that responds to the aspirations of citizens and enhances the competitiveness and immunity of vital sectors.
