Local media reported, citing Ecuadorian journalist Roberto Bonafonte, that Regragui’s agent expressed interest in the possibility of the Moroccan coach having a training experience with the Ecuadorian national team, based on a source he described as “reliable.”
The reports added that Regragui looks positively at the potential of the Ecuadorian national team, and does not mind studying the offer if communications develop during the coming period, without any official confirmation from the coach or from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation regarding this news.
Walid Regragui is considered one of the most prominent coaches on the African continent, after he led the Moroccan national team to achieve a historic achievement by reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, and was also crowned with the 2025 African Cup of Nations title, after defeating the Senegal national team in the final match.
