Rabat –His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid chaired, on Friday evening, at the Royal Dar Es Salaam Golf Club, the official dinner hosted by King Mohammed VI, on the occasion of the 50th edition of the Hassan II Golf Award and the 29th edition of the Lalla Meryem Cup.
This event witnessed the presence of a number of national and international officials and figures, including the Minister of National Education, Primary Education and Sports, Mohamed Saad Barada, the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatima Zahraa Amour, and the Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, Fawzi Lakjaa, along with territorial officials, athletes, and partners of the two sports events.
Prince Moulay Rachid also received a number of officials from the Royal Moroccan Golf University and the Hassan II Prize Association, in addition to international and national figures linked to the world of golf.
The dinner ceremony was marked by the screening of an institutional film that reviewed the historical path of the Hassan II Golf Award and the Lalla Meriem Cup, which were launched respectively in 1971 and 1993 at the initiative of the late King Hassan II.
The organizers stressed that Morocco’s hosting of the two tournaments is part of the sporting dynamism that Morocco is witnessing under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, which aims to enhance the radiance of the capital, Rabat, and consolidate the Kingdom’s position as an international sports destination.
The Hassan II Award, which has been part of the Professional League for Veteran Golfers since 2023, is considered one of the most prominent international tournaments in golf, while the Lalla Meryem Cup, which has been included in the European Women’s League since 2010, continues to consolidate the presence of women’s sports on the international scene.
