Libya –On Tuesday, before the African Union Peace and Security Council, Morocco reaffirmed its support for a political solution in Libya, stressing the importance of continuing the Libyan-Libyan dialogue and strengthening national reconciliation efforts to reach a lasting settlement of the crisis.
The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Morocco to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Mohamed Aroushi, confirmed that the Skhirat Agreement signed in 2015 still constitutes one of the basic and reliable references for finding a sustainable political solution, calling for the preservation of Libya’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Moroccan diplomat also highlighted the role that Morocco continues to play in keeping pace with the Libyan political track and bringing viewpoints closer between the various parties, within the framework of respect for international legitimacy, the outcomes of the Skhirat Agreement and the Bouznika understandings.
Morocco renewed its call to continue efforts aimed at resolving the crisis through dialogue and consensus, away from military options, in a way that guarantees security and stability for the Libyan people.
