Morocco raises its alert level before the summer of 2026.. A national system is ready to confront forest fires

Rabat –The National Water and Forest Agency confirmed that the national system for preventing, tracking and managing forest fires is fully ready as the 2026 summer season approaches, as part of the annual preparations to confront fire risks during the summer period.

Fouad Assali, Director of Climate and Environmental Risk Management and Reforestation at the agency, explained that the various components of the prevention and intervention system have undergone a comprehensive review to ensure their readiness for immediate activation when needed.

This came on the sidelines of a field visit by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Ahmed Al-Bouari, to the National Center for Climate and Environmental Risk Management of the National Water and Forests Agency.

The visit included an overview of the monitoring and early warning system and the technological means adopted to monitor fires, in addition to assessing the readiness of the intervention teams and the level of coordination with various stakeholders at the national and territorial levels.

A presentation was also given on the integrated national strategy for managing forest fires, and the role played by the National Center in tracking warnings and coordinating field intervention operations.
