Rome –A Moroccan parliamentary delegation participated, between May 11 and 13 in the Italian capital, Rome, in a symposium organized by the Special Group for the Mediterranean and the Middle East of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, devoted to discussing developments in the situation in the Middle East and the Sahel region.
The Moroccan delegation, headed by parliamentarian Saber Kayaf, a member of the House of Representatives, participated in discussions that brought together parliamentarians from member states of the alliance and its partners, including Morocco, on a number of security and strategic issues related to the expanded Mediterranean region, the Sahel region, and the crisis in the Gulf.
During this meeting, Saber Kayaf highlighted the dynamism witnessed by Morocco at the regional and international levels under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, especially in the areas of development, stability and regional cooperation.
The Moroccan parliamentary official also held a series of meetings with a number of international figures, including the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Marcos Bersterlo de Vasconcellos, and the Head of the Italian delegation to the Assembly, Lorenzo Chiesa, in addition to the President of the Med Hour Foundation and former Italian Interior Minister Marco Minniti.
Kayaf explained, in a press statement, that a number of participating officials expressed their admiration for the developmental dynamism experienced by Morocco, while the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly expressed his desire to make an official visit to the Kingdom.
The Moroccan delegation also included members of the Council of Advisors, Mubarak Al-Sibai and Ismail Al-Alawi, in addition to the writer of the delegation, Mohamed Taha.
This symposium coincided with the commemoration of the thirtieth anniversary of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, and was marked by the sending of a message from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, in addition to interventions by Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto and the European Union Special Representative for the Gulf Region, Luigi Di Maio.
