Moroccan Sahara: The Czech Republic supports the autonomy plan and considers it the most realistic solution to the conflict

The Czech Republic confirmed, today, Thursday, March 26, 2026, that the autonomy initiative presented by Morocco constitutes “the most realistic solution” to settle the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, in a new diplomatic position that strengthens the international momentum in support of the Moroccan proposal.

This position came in a joint declaration signed in the capital, Rabat, following discussions between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and his Czech counterpart, Peter Macinka, who is on an official visit to the Kingdom.

The statement explained that Prague considers the autonomy plan presented by Morocco in 2007 “the most serious, credible and realistic basis” for reaching a lasting and acceptable political solution to the conflict, in harmony with the growing international dynamism supporting this trend.
