Mauritania calls for international action to provide relief to Venezuela after devastating earthquakes

Nouakchott –Mauritania called on the international community to intensify humanitarian support for Venezuela, following the devastating earthquakes that struck the country and left hundreds dead and thousands injured, stressing that international solidarity represents the most effective way to overcome this disaster.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad expressed, in an official statement, its deep concern over the high toll of victims of the two earthquakes, offering its condolences to the Venezuelan government and people, and expressing its full solidarity with the families of the victims.

Mauritania stressed the importance of strengthening international cooperation to provide humanitarian and relief aid to those affected, calling on various countries and organizations to unify efforts in support of rescue and relief operations.

She also wished a speedy recovery for the injured, the safety of the missing, and that God would grant patience and solace to the families of the victims.

On Wednesday evening, Venezuela was hit by two earthquakes of magnitude7.2 and 7.5 degreesOn the Richter scale, they were followed by a third earthquake with a magnitude of4.9 degrees.
