Libya restarts the El Feel oil field after a sudden stop… a gradual return to production

My press – Libya

resumedLibyaOperating the El Feel oil field after a long hiatus since March 17, in a step that reflects a gradual return to production after addressing the problems that led to the suspension of activity during the last period.

According to circulated data, the shutdown of the field came as a result of the use of a pipeline to transport crude from the Sharara field, which led to the disruption of operations in one of the vital sites of the Libyan energy sector.

El Feel field is considered one of the medium fields in terms of production, with its capacity ranging between 80,000 and 90,000 barrels per day under normal conditions, which makes it an important element in supporting the country’s oil supplies.

The field is operated by Mellitah Oil and Gas Company, within the framework of a partnership that brings togetherNational Oil CorporationAnd the Italian company Eni, within a production system that depends on cooperation between local and international actors.

On the other hand, the Sharara field remains one of the largest oil fields in Libya, with a production capacity of more than 300 thousand barrels per day, and it is linked to the Zawiya refinery, which is considered one of the most important refining centers in the country.

The resumption of production comes in a context characterized by constant fluctuations in the Libyan oil sector, which over the past years has witnessed repeated interruptions for technical and political reasons, which directly affects the stability of production and supplies.
