Libya is strengthening its energy infrastructure… inaugurating a new gas pipeline to connect the fields to the transportation network and strengthen supplies

announcedNational Oil Corporation of Libyaannounced the start of operation of a new gas line within the first phase of the gas transportation system development project, in a step aimed at improving the connection between producing fields and processing facilities, and enhancing the efficiency of supplies within the national network.

According to official data, the new line extends from the Zueitina axis, starting from field 103A, to connect with pipeline No. 42 at the connection point at kilometer 91 within the network of the Sirte Oil and Gas Production and Manufacturing Company, which will contribute to facilitating the transfer of gas coming from the Al-Fargh field to the main network.

The corporation explained that the project will help relieve operational pressure on the Zueitina axis and reduce bottlenecks that were impeding the flow of gas, in addition to reducing the burning of associated gas and improving the performance of the transportation system.

Gas pumping operations have already begun gradually into the new line with the aim of balancing the pressure within the network and integrating the new section into the operating transportation system, in preparation for enhancing supplies directed to coastal processing and distribution facilities.

The National Oil Corporation confirmed that the project was completely completed with national efforts and competencies in terms of design and implementation, in an indication of the ability of Libyan sector companies to complete strategic infrastructure projects despiteEconomic challenges.

This project comes within a broader plan to developGas sectorIn Libya, the authorities are counting on it to raise production and meet the growing local demand, while working to achieve a future surplus that can be exported, especially towards European markets that seek to diversify their sources of energy supplies.
