Tunisia– Tunisia recorded a noticeable decline inGlobal Child Rights Index 2026After ranking 65th in the world with a score of0.725 pointsAccording to the report issued by theFoundation KidsRightsIn cooperation with the University ofErasmus Rotterdam, to be among the twenty countries that declined the most in the rankings compared to last year.
The report showed that Tunisia lost10 mattressesAll at once, to occupy thirteenth place on the list of countries that have declined the most between the 2025 and 2026 editions, at a time when Morocco has achieved remarkable progress in13 centersOn the global rankings ladder.
The indicator is based on an assessment of the conditions of children in194 countriesBased on several criteria, including the right to life, health, education, and protection, in addition to an environment that supports children’s rights.
Although Tunisia has a relatively advanced legal and institutional system in the field of child protection, the report links the ranking of countries to field results and the extent to which children actually benefit from basic services, noting challenges such as regional disparities, school dropouts, social fragility, and the quality of health and educational services.
The report indicated that Tunisia’s decline comes within a global context that is witnessing a deterioration in children’s rights conditions due to armed conflicts and rising levels of violence, in addition to the worsening health problems such as obesity in children and adolescents.
The report’s authors stressed that improving children’s rights indicators requires enhancing investment in health, education, and social protection, and transforming legal guarantees into tangible results that are reflected in the lives of children in various regions.
