Nouakchott – February 19, 2026
The timing of fasting on the first of Ramadan 1447 AH varies between the capitals of the Mauritanian states, as the shortest period is recorded before dawn in the city of Naama, while fasting comes relatively late in the city of Nouadhibou, according to official data.
These timings were based on the imsak time issued by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Original Education, which specified a time difference of five minutes between the imsak time and the dawn call to prayer, as a precaution for those who are fasting.
The earliest time for fasting in the city of Naama (Houdh El Sharqi State) is recorded at 05:29 am, while the furthest time in Nouadhibou, northwest of the country, is at 06:10 am.
The following are the most prominent timings adopted on the first day of Ramadan:
Laayoune (Al-Hawd Al-Gharbi): 05:39
Kiffa (the gang): 05:46
Kaedi (Korkle): 05:54
Alak (Barakna): 05:56
Rosso (Trarza): 06:03
Atar (Adrar): 05:54
Tjakja (Takant): 05:47
Silbaby (Kidmaja): 05:48
Zouerate (Tiris Zemmour): 05:52
Akjoujt (Inchiri): 05:59
Nouakchott and its suburbs: 06:05
This time discrepancy shows the geographical difference between the east and west of the country, which is reflected in the dates of fasting during the holy month, pending the issuance of any official updates that may occur as the days of Ramadan progress.
