Algeria –Algeria is intensifying its preparations for the legislative elections scheduled for Thursday, July 2, 2026, as the Independent National Election Authority called on all supervisors of voting offices and centers to adhere to neutrality and integrity, while the government approved an exceptional paid license for workers to enable them to cast their votes.
The authority stressed, in an official statement, the necessity of performing electoral tasks with all sincerity and impartiality, while refraining from any action that would affect the integrity and transparency of the electoral process. It also called on candidates and their representatives to respect the legal and regulatory procedures to ensure the smooth conduct of the vote.
In parallel, the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, in coordination with the General Directorate of Public Employment and Administrative Reform, announced granting employees of public and private departments and institutions, including daily or hourly wage workers, a special license to be absent on polling day without deduction from wages, while requiring institutions that adopt the rotation system to take the necessary measures to ensure continuity of services.
These elections come during the second presidential term of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who was elected for the first time in 2019 and was re-elected in 2024 for a term extending until 2029. They are also the first legislative elections to be organized after the constitutional and legal amendments approved during the year 2026.
