International – US President Donald Trump announced that he was retracting previous threats to launch strikes against Iran, stressing during an election rally that the war with Tehran is over, at a time when the concerned parties continue to discuss the details of a possible agreement that has not yet been officially announced.
Trump said that the talks between the United States and the Iranian leadership had reached advanced stages, adding that the proposed understandings had, according to his statements, been approved by various parties concerned, and that the final arrangements and location of signing would be announced at a later time.
On the other hand, the Iranian authorities expressed a more conservative stance, stressing that the negotiation process is still ongoing, and that the final agreement with Washington has not yet been decided, despite the progress achieved by the consultations during the recent period.
This discrepancy in statements between the two sides comes at a time when the region is witnessing rapid field developments, as Iranian media reported that an oil tanker was prevented from crossing the Strait of Hormuz due to procedures related to prior coordination, while the Israeli army announced the implementation of military operations in southern Lebanon.
