Caracas –The death toll from the two violent earthquakes that struck Venezuela has risen to589 dead and about 3 thousand injured, while it is still approximately50 thousand people are missingAmid continuing search and rescue operations and the influx of international relief teams to the stricken areas.

The Director of Health Emergencies at the World Health Organization stressed that the first 72 hours after the disaster represent a critical stage for saving lives, calling for urgent support for the Venezuelan health sector, which suffers from great fragility.
The last hours witnessed widespread international alert, as the United States, China, Qatar, Spain, France, Switzerland, and a number of countries announced sending rescue teams and humanitarian aid, while Washington allocated aid worth150 million dollarsTo support relief operations.
This disaster comes at a time when Venezuela faces complex economic and humanitarian challenges, while local and international efforts continue to rescue those stranded and limit the repercussions of the two earthquakes.
