Morocco –The Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget revealed,Fawzi Lakjaa, about the increase in the amount of state support for a bottle of butane gas, as it reached 78 dirhams for a 12 kg bottle, compared to about 30 dirhams previously, in light of the continuing pressures associated with the rise in pricesEnergyGlobally.
The government official explained that this measure reflects the state’s keenness to maintain the stability of the prices of this vital material, which is widely relied upon for the daily consumption of Moroccan families, stressing that the monthly cost of this support amounts to about 600 million dirhams.
Regarding electricity, the government decided to keep prices unchanged, despite the rise in production costs, which costs the budget about 400 million dirhams per month, with the aim of protecting the purchasing power of citizens and ensuring the stability of contracting activities.
As for the transportation sector, direct support was allocated to professionals, amounting to 3 dirhams for every liter of fuel, during the period from March 15 to April 15, and includes various types of transportation, from taxis to buses and school and tourist transportation.
The monthly cost of this measure amounts to about 648 million dirhams, within the framework of a direct support system that has been activated since mid-March, to mitigate the impact of fuel price fluctuations on the sector.
These measures fall within a package of government measures to confront the repercussions of the global energy crisis, in light of geopolitical tensions, as the government confirms its continuous monitoring of developments in international markets, with the possibility of expanding support to include additional sectors when needed.
According to official data, the total cost of these measures amounts to about 1.65 billion dirhams per month, in an effort to reduce inflation and maintain economic balances.
